Krista's Room

A girl in our neighborhood found out she had breast cancer.  Lori and I felt so bad for her.  She is our age and has 3 little kids.  She is at a stage 3 cancer and it is aggressive.  She had to have surgery to remove them and then is going to be doing chemo and radiation for a whole year.  We were told she didn't need help with meals or cleaning because her mom was going to move in with them to help.  We knew we needed to do something.  Lori and I were thinking about when we were pregnant and sick.  It's horrible laying in bed staring at the same walls day after day.  We thought it would be fun to give her a bedroom make over.  She was actually really excited about it.  It helped us not think so much about our dad.  We went shopping for 2 weeks and got everything ready.  The week after Thanksgiving we decorated the room in 6 hours.  It was SO MUCH FUN!  The best was how much she loved it.  She was crying.  We all were.  Brad helped us some and so did one other guy from our neighborhood for a while.  Jared was 3 months old and I have to feed him so a neighbor watched him for me.  When he was hungry she brought him over and I fed him.  So many people in our community donated money so we could make it look nice.  The husband was awesome too.  I've never seen a guy get so excited about a room before.  He loved it!  He said it looked like a model home and he didn't want to mess it up.  I could do this all day.  I love to decorate!!

The before  As you can see she didn't have much in her room.  One little end table, no curtains, and nothing on the walls.
That chair goes in her living room.

We started painting first while Brad stapled on the wood.  We used a light gray called Pussy Willow from Sherwin Williams.

Almost ready to put things on the wall.

The night stands before.
Lori sanded and pained the end tables.  She made the chevron frames.  The lamps we got at Ross for $30 each.  The end tables were $125 for both of them.  We got them off KSL from a guy in Park City.  Poor Lori's car died when she got there.

Lori made the frame on the end table.  The vinyl lettering says "I can do hard things."  The lantern we got from Rod Works.  The mirror tray she had and the pots we got from Ross.

The blue pillow was from TJMaxx.  It was the main part of why we chose the aqua color. The rod iron scroll we got from Pottery Barn.  (That's the only thing we splurged on but we got free shipping at 20% off the day after Thanksgiving)

The clock is huge!  We got it from Hobby Lobby.

The frames we got from Wal-Mart.  Her neighbor had just taken her family's pictures and she hadn't seen them yet.  It was fun!

My friend made a card and put it on the bed with every one's names on it that donated money.  I think they were surprised so many people cared about them!

The bed frame was from Down East.  It was broken so we glued it up and fixed it.

Lori made the pillow shames and throw blanket from a queen size quilt she had.  It matched perfect!  I love the mirror.  She had it and wanted it hung up but never got around to it.

The dresser is from Down East

This temple picture was donated to us by the Boyd family.  Lori and I had done some decorating in their house so they were nice to help us out!  Here is their website. http://www.robertaboyd.com
I'm sure lots of you know him by his Salt Lake temple picture with the twigs in front of it with red leaves.  Beautiful!!

The couch we got from a consignment store in Sandy.  It was $180.  I LOVE it!!  It fit perfect in that spot.  I made the curtains from material that we got from Hancock Fabrics.  It was on sale for $5 a yard!!
The light we got from the same consignment store for $75.
We got the letters from Hobby Lobby.

Piano Room

The woman we did this room for teaches piano so we wanted it to look nice for people to come and have lessons.
This room was plain with not much in it.  We painted the accent wall blue.  I like the look of  it against the piano color.

The mirror was from Roberts Arts and Crafts

The lantern and pots were from TJMaxx

The two scroll's on the side of the curtains were from a little decorating store in Tooele.  The curtains were from JCPenney. They are blue like the wall with big embroidered flowers on them.

The clock was from Hobby Lobby

Laundry Room

Laundry room before

We painted the walls a butter cream yellow.  Brad built the cabinets and we painted them a dark brown called Oil Lamp from Wal-Mart's color place.  The laundry sign was from Hobby Lobby.

We made the curtains from sheets at Down East.  They are a  pin stripe print.  We got the old door off KSL for $5 and put hooks on it for bags and coats.

Baby Girl's Room

The before picture.  She had 3 boys and was having her first girl!

After
More of the canvas from Tai Pan we covered with material.
I painted the end table, dresser, and chair white.  I recovered the chair.
I got these flowers at Hobby Lobby.  I put a wall paper on the wall with boards in between.  I love having a texture on the wall.

The light we got from Lowe's
The frames were from Hobby Lobby
The clock was also from Hobby Lobby.

I made a tutu bed skirt.  All the bedding I made with material from Hobby Lobby.
I found the material I liked a long time ago.  I had gotten samples for it and showed her.  She loved it and when I went to pick it up they were out of it.  Turns out they weren't getting any more.  She got some from a different state and I had my sister get some for me in Colorado.  We had just enough!

Purple Bathroom

I don't have a before of this bathroom but just imagine tan walls with nothing on them.
The vase was from Ross and the flowers from Hobby Lobby.

The clock was on clearance at Target

The black and white pictures were from Ikea.

The mirrors were from Ross.  They came in 4 different sections at $5 a piece.

The curtains were from JoAnn's fabric for $5 a yard.  You can't see the shower curtain but it is a textured white.
